As a result of the shooting by the Syrian regime forces at around 16:30 on October 3, 2012, 5 civilians were killed in the Akçakale area in Şanlıurfa, 9 of our citizens were injured.
A statement was made by the Prime Ministry in the face of this attack;
"This heinous attack was immediately responded to by our armed forces in the border area in accordance with the rules of engagement; the targets were hit by firing cannon at points in Syria, which were detected by radar.”
Reciprocity is a right granted by international law. Two days ago, a cannonball was dropped in Akçakale. The attack should not be left unanswered because there was no loss of life. Türkiye should keep the entire Syrian border under surveillance with its target detection facilities. Syria must be warned not to have its artillery, tanks, and mortars close to our borders by 30 kilometers. It should take measures to protect this ban.
In addition, measures must be taken taking into account the possibility of Syria retaliating from the air. If any Syrian aircraft cross the border, military airfields must be shot.
It should avoid any ground operations that cross the border, and retaliation should be done with multiple weapons but should be in a deterrent intensity.
In addition, the Opposition should be effectively supported with weapons and financial resources to aid unification. October 03, 2012.
